Kojima: A Port Town Ride Trip with a Seto Ohashi Bridge Cruise and Jeans Street
Set in Kojima, Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture, the birthplace of Japan's domestic denim industry, this is a one-day course touring scenery by boat, car, and train that will delight anyone who loves getting around. The main event is the Seto Ohashi Bridge cruise departing from Kojima Sightseeing Port (児島観光港), where you look straight up from the sea at one of the world's largest bridges and feel the roar of trains rushing overhead. At Washuzan Observatory (鷲羽山), which follows, take in the same bridge from a hilltop instead. In between, enjoy a lunch of the local specialty octopus dishes in the port town of Shimotsui (下津井), then go denim shopping in the afternoon at Kojima Jeans Street (児島ジーンズストリート), before finishing at the Former Nozaki Residence (旧野﨑家住宅), the great mansion of a salt magnate. Look up at the Seto Ohashi Bridge, look down at it, and ride across it, all in one day. This is a day packed full of the appeal of transportation and a port town, giving you the full flavor of Kojima.
