Saga: A Scenic Waterside Tour of Chikugo River Rising Bridge and Higashi-Yoka Tidal Flat

A full-day course exploring the waterside of the Saga Plain. In the morning, visit the birthplace and memorial hall of Okuma Shigenobu, founder of Waseda University, and follow in the footsteps of this great figure produced by Saga. Next, head to the bright red rising bridge spanning the Chikugo River. Walk across this important cultural property—one of Japan's oldest movable bridges, whose girders rise skyward. After lunch at the direct sales shop Bridge Station Doronpa, gazing at Ariake Bay seaweed and fresh vegetables, spend the afternoon at the Ramsar wetland of Higashi-Yoka Tidal Flat. From the rooftop of Visitor Center Higasasu, survey the muddy landscape, and at Tidal Flat Yoka Park, closely observe the world of creatures where mudskippers and fiddler crabs appear.
