2026 Mikuni Fireworks Festival Full-Day Course
Centered on the Mikuni Fireworks Festival (三国花火大会) held on August 11, 2026 (Tuesday, national holiday), this is a full-day course enjoying the seaside area of Mikuni, Sakai City, Fukui Prefecture from afternoon onward. Mikuni is a representative port town of the Hokuriku region, featuring historic Meiji-era Western-style architecture and a magnificent sunset beach facing the Japan Sea. In the afternoon, enjoy the dramatic coastal cliffs of Tojinbo and its sea views, then walk the natural coastline of Ooshima to feel the ocean breeze. In the evening, enjoy Echizen's fresh seafood around Mikuni Port for a leisurely dinner. As night falls, move to Mikuni Sunset Beach and Kuzu River Boat Park (九頭竜川ボートパーク) to witness the spectacular sight of approximately 15,000 large fireworks lighting up the night sky of the Japan Sea from the sandy beach. This is the ultimate plan packing together the fireworks festival representing Hokuriku summer and seaside sightseeing in one greedy package.
