2026 Mito Komon Festival: Mito Kairakuen Fireworks Display - A Full-Day Course
This course centers on the Mito Komon Festival: Mito Kairakuen Fireworks Display (水戸黄門まつり 水戸偕楽園花火大会), held on July 25, 2026 (Saturday), and lets you enjoy Mito's famous sights and lakeside for a day. During the day, take a leisurely stroll through the plum grove and Japanese garden at Kairakuen (偕楽園), one of Japan's three great gardens, and also enjoy an easygoing walk around the adjacent Lake Senba (千波湖), alongside swans and mute swans. In the afternoon, visit Kodokan (弘道館), where Mito's history and culture are concentrated, and tour the garden while feeling the atmosphere of the late Edo period. In the evening, fill up on Mito's specialty food in the area around the north exit of Mito Station before heading to the venue, and once night falls, look up at about 5,000 fireworks shells coloring the surface of Lake Senba from the lakeshore. This is a one-day plan fitting for the closing of the Mito Komon Festival, a summer night of a historic garden and a spacious lake.
