2026 Tsukihama Beach 1-Day Full-Experience Course

A full-day course from July 18 (Saturday) to August 21 (Friday) 2026, open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., centered on Tsukihama Beach on Miyato Island in Higashimatsushima City, offering plenty of opportunities to enjoy the nature and history of Okumatushima. In the morning, climb to Otakamori Observation Platform, one of the Four Great Views of Matsushima, and enjoy a spectacular panoramic view of Matsushima Bay with over 260 large and small islands. Next, head to Sagakei Gorge, counted among Japan's Three Greatest Gorges. Here, the dramatic landscape of rugged rocks and blue sea offers a different, more powerful impression than the calm scenery within Matsushima Bay. At the Okumatushima Jomon Village History Museum, enjoy a cool rest inside while learning about Jomon-era life before your swim. After lunch nearby, make your way to Tsukihama Beach. The gently-sloping sandy beach with calm waves is located deep within Matsushima Bay, making it safe for families with small children. Swimming is free, and the beach has restrooms and coin-operated showers. With transparent waters and a quiet sandy beach, enjoy Okumatushima's characteristic peaceful summer atmosphere until swimming ends at 3 p.m. Bring your swimsuit and towel for a day exploring the sea and history of Okumatushima.
