A one-day course starring Yamagata City Comprehensive Sports Center Outdoor Pool (山形市総合スポーツセンター屋外プール), open from Sunday 5 July to Sunday 30 August 2026 (closed to visitors on some days for swimming meets and similar events). Walk the shopping street and a large park in central Yamagata City (山形市) in the morning to keep cool, then head for the pool from midday. Serious swimmers can enjoy the 50 m competition pool with nine lanes, children can bob along the 130 m lazy river, and little ones can get used to the water in the toddlers' pool — everyone at their own pace. Spectator stands are provided too, so you can take turns keeping watch while the others play. Admission is affordable at 250 yen general, 150 yen for high school students and 100 yen for junior high age and under, so the whole family can drop in easily. Changing rooms and showers are in place, which means you can travel light with minimal luggage. It is a summer-holiday classic, easy to reach from central Yamagata.
