2026 Jodogahama Beach (浄土ヶ浜海水浴場) Full-Day Course

A course that packs Miyako's (宮古) seafood and superb scenery into a single day, starring Jodogahama Beach (浄土ヶ浜海水浴場), open in 2026 from Saturday 4 July to Sunday 30 August. In the morning, browse the morning's catch at Miyako City Fish and Vegetable Market (宮古市魚菜市場), then enjoy a seafood lunch worthy of Miyako Port (宮古港) at Michi-no-Eki Miyako (道の駅みやこ). Board the Umineko Maru (うみねこ丸) sightseeing boat and you can watch black-tailed gulls flying alongside up close while taking in superb views of a ria coast lined with white rhyolite cliffs. And then the climax: swimming at Jodogahama Beach. The cove, encircled by pure white rhyolite and green pines, has been described as being just like the Pure Land of paradise and is a leading scenic spot of the Tohoku (東北) region; its calm waves and shallow water are reassuring even with small children. Swimming hours are 8:30 to 17:00, and swimming itself is free. Changing rooms, toilets and rental lockers are free to use, and there is generous parking for over 500 cars. It is open daily from Saturday 18 July to Sunday 16 August; outside that period it opens only on weekends and public holidays, so check before you set out.
