2026 Funato Beach (舟渡海水浴場) Full-Day Course

A one-day course taking in the whole of Kuji's (久慈) sea and town, starring Funato Beach (舟渡海水浴場) in Kuji City, Iwate Prefecture (岩手県久慈市), open from Friday 17 July to Monday 31 August 2026. In the morning, meet sea urchins, starfish, black-tailed gulls and other creatures of the Sanriku (三陸) sea at Kuji Underground Aquarium and Science Museum Moguranpia (久慈地下水族科学館 もぐらんぴあ), then view the glow of amber, rare even worldwide, at Kuji Amber Museum (久慈琥珀博物館). At lunchtime, stop at Michi-no-Eki Kuji Yamase Dofukan (道の駅くじ やませ土風館) for a break over Kuji seafood dishes and some souvenir shopping. Once you are refuelled, head for Funato Beach. The site has free parking along with temporary showers, toilets and drinking fountains, and Funato Rest House (ふなどレストハウス) offers hot showers from 10:00 to 16:00, so families with small children can relax. Splash at the water's edge or run about on the sand and enjoy Kuji's famously clear sea as a family. This is a signature summer day course for Kuji, combining Sanriku seafood with sea play. Pack a swimsuit and a towel and set out for Funato Beach.
