2026 Mizushima Island Full-Day Experience Course
A full-day course centered on Mizushima Island, a small island floating off Irohama in Tsuruga City, Fukui Prefecture. Mizushima Beach will be open from July 11, 2026 (Saturday) to August 30, 2026 (Sunday), with ferries also operating on September 5-6, 2026. This remote island, accessible only by ferry from Irohama, features cobalt-blue transparent waters and pristine white sand beaches resembling a tropical paradise. Begin your morning exploring Tsuruga's downtown. Visit Kehi Shrine, counted as one of Japan's three greatest torii gates, and stroll through Tsuruga Red Brick Warehouse that tells the history of this port town. For lunch, enjoy fresh seafood at Japan Sea Fish Market, then head toward Irohama via Kehi Pine Forest, one of Japan's three great pine groves. Board the ferry from Irohama Port to finally reach Mizushima Island. Without shops or showers—only basic toilets—the island maintains its pristine beauty. Prepare drinks and sun protection well, and enjoy the evening soaking in the sea and forgetting time on this remote sandy beach.
