2026 Abashiri Okhotsk Summer Festival Fireworks Display, Abashiri Fireworks (網走花火): A Full One-Day Course
This is a course for enjoying a full day in Abashiri, where Okhotsk culture lives on, centered on the Abashiri Okhotsk Summer Festival Fireworks Display, Abashiri Fireworks (網走花火), held from 8pm on Saturday, July 25, 2026, around the roadside station Michi-no-Eki Ryuhyo Kaido Abashiri (道の駅流氷街道網走) and the right bank of the Abashiri River. At midday, encounter the historic prison architecture and its stories at the Abashiri Prison Museum (博物館網走監獄), then discover the mystery of drift ice at the Okhotsk Ryu-hyo Museum (オホーツク流氷館). At Michi-no-Eki Ryuhyo Kaido Abashiri (道の駅流氷街道網走), enjoy tasting local seafood and specialty products. The viewing areas are set up in the parking lot on the east side of the roadside station (opening at 11am) and along the right bank of the Abashiri River (opening at 3pm). In the evening, pick up dinner near the venue, secure a spot, and wait for dusk to fall. From 8pm to 8:45pm, fireworks color the night sky over Abashiri. In case of severe weather, the event is postponed to the following day. This is a plan unique to summer in Abashiri, where you can fully enjoy history, the nature of the Okhotsk region, and spectacular fireworks all at once.
