2026 Hokuto City Summer Festival: A Full One-Day Course

This is a course for enjoying a full day in Hokuto City, a port town near Hakodate, centered on the Hokuto City Summer Festival (北斗市夏まつり), held from 7:40pm on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Kamiiso Fishing Port (Iio) (上磯漁港(飯生)). At midday, stroll through the greenery-filled historic site of the Matsumae Domain Hekirichi Jinya Ruins (松前藩戸切地陣屋跡), then enjoy the exhibits and events at the Hokuto City General Culture Center Kanade-ru (北斗市総合文化センター かなで～る). In the evening, pick up dinner at the shopping street in front of Kamiiso Station (上磯駅前商店街), then secure a spot near the fishing port and wait for the show to begin. From 7:40pm to 8:10pm, fireworks color the night sky. Watching the fireworks from the open setting of the fishing port has an appealingly comfortable scale that families can enjoy at ease.
