2026 Kamiura Sea Festival & Japan's Shortest Fireworks Display (かみうら海まつり・日本一短い花火大会): A Full One-Day Course
This course centers on the Kamiura Sea Festival and Japan's Shortest Fireworks Display (かみうら海まつり・日本一短い花火大会), held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Marinopolis Memorial Park (マリノポリス記念公園) in Asaoi-ura, Kamiura, Saiki City, Oita Prefecture, and lets you spend a full day enjoying a fishing village on the Bungo Strait. During the day, take a leisurely stroll through the fishing harbor of Asaoi-ura and stop by Bungo Futamigaura (豊後二見ヶ浦), known for its wedded rocks joined by a large shimenawa rope. From 6:00 PM, the festival begins, and you can have dinner around the venue while waiting for the show to start. Around 9:15 PM, about 1,000 fireworks — short but memorable, true to the festival's name — color the night sky. This is a plan for spending a relaxed time on the quiet shores of the Bungo Strait, a summer festival rooted in the local community. Though not flashy, its charm lies in the area's warm atmosphere.
