2026 Mitoya Fireworks Festival: A Full-Day Course
This course centers on the Mitoya Summer Festival, held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, and its finale of about 200 fireworks launched from 8:30 p.m., and spends a full day exploring Mitoya-cho in Unnan City, Shimane Prefecture. During the day, experience traces of a Sengoku-period mountain castle at the Mitoya Castle Ruins, and relax by the banks of the Mitoya River, feeling the river breeze. In the afternoon, walk through the shopping street in the town center and experience the atmosphere of local life. In the evening, spend time around the Mitoya-cho shopping street, which serves as the festival venue, and wait for the show to begin while having dinner. At night, the summer festival buzzes with a mikoshi, kagura performances, taiko drumming, and food stalls, and about 200 fireworks color the Mitoya night. It's a summer day plan in Unnan where you can fully enjoy both a historical walk and a local summer festival.
