2026 Chikuhoku Summer Festival: A Full-Day Course

This is a full-day course touring the rural landscapes and highlands of Higashi-Chikuma, centered on the Chikuhoku Summer Festival 2026 (夏まつり筑北2026), which begins at 4:00 PM on Saturday, July 25, 2026. At midday, walk the cool promenade along the gorge at Sashikirikyo Gorge (差切峡), then see the unique group of stone statues standing in the mountains at Shonarasan Angu Shrine (修那羅山安宮神社). In the afternoon, head to Hijiri Kogen (聖高原) in neighboring Omi Village (麻績村) and take in the clear highland air. In the evening, move to the venue, Chikuhoku Village Chikuhoku Elementary School (筑北村立筑北小学校) (schoolyard and gymnasium), and enjoy the festival's lively atmosphere while eating dinner from the night stalls. This is a summer day plan unique to Chikuhoku Village, letting you fully enjoy a gorge walk, a tour of a place of faith, and highland nature all in one.
