2026 39th Oigawa Grand Fireworks Festival: A Full-Day Course
Centered on the 39th Oigawa Grand Fireworks Festival held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, this is a course for enjoying Shimada City, a post town shaped by the Oigawa River, for a full day. At midday, visit Oi Shrine, and in the afternoon touch the Edo-period history of river crossings at the Shimada-juku Oigawa Kawagoshi Historic Site. Cross Horai Bridge, the world's longest wooden pedestrian bridge, to take in the Oigawa River's grand flow, and enjoy the steam-locomotive atmosphere at Shin-Kanaya Station on the Oigawa Railway. In the evening, move to the Oigawa riverbed to have dinner while waiting for the fireworks, and from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, about 10,000 fireworks color the night sky. This plan, generously combining a history walk with spectacular fireworks, is perfect for families.
