2026 The 67th Mizunami Minogenji Tanabata Festival: Mizunami Prayer Grand Fireworks Display – Full-Day Course
This is a full-day course centered on the 67th Mizunami Minogenji Tanabata Festival: Mizunami Prayer Grand Fireworks Display, held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, along the Tokigawa riverside (土岐川河畔) in Mizunami City, Gifu Prefecture (岐阜県). At midday, visit the Mizunami Fossil Museum, known as a town of fossils, then head to the Mizunami Ceramics Museum to experience the tradition of Mino ware. In the afternoon, walk through the remnants of Okute-juku, a former post town on the Nakasendo highway, and in the evening, enjoy dinner amid the Tanabata festival atmosphere at the shopping street in front of Mizunami Station. As dusk falls, the area along the Tokigawa riverside fills with spectators, and fireworks light up the night sky. A full-day plan packed with fossils, pottery, a historic post town stroll, and fireworks in the night sky — a fitting way to close out summer in Mizunami City.
