2026 The 36th Akechi-cho Cool Evening Fireworks Display: A Full-Day Course
This course centers on the 36th Akechi-cho Cool Evening Fireworks Display (明智町納涼花火大会), held on Friday, August 14, 2026, and lets you enjoy a full day in Akechi-cho, Ena City, a town steeped in Taisho-era romance. During the day, stroll through Nihon Taisho Mura (日本大正村), which recreates a Taisho-era townscape, and tour its retro Western-style buildings and museums. After taking commemorative photos at the wooden station building of Akechi Station (明智駅), the terminus of the Akechi Railway, take in the townscape of Akechi-cho and the surrounding mountains from Senjojiki Park (千畳敷公園) on a hilltop. In the evening, have dinner around Taisho Mura and leisurely watch the Taisho-romance streets as the sun sets. At 7:30 PM, about 1,000 fireworks shells launch over a basin surrounded by mountains, building to a powerful finale as the sound echoes all around. Packed generously with a stroll through Taisho-era streets and fireworks in the mountains, this is a plan unique to summer in Akechi-cho.
