2026 Uraga Port Festival Fireworks Show: A Full-Day Course

A course centered on the Uraga Port Festival Fireworks Show, held from 7:30 pm on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at the Nishi-Uraga Minato Ryokuchi (西浦賀みなと緑地) green space and around Uraga Port in Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture. In the daytime, pray at Nishi-Kanou Shrine (西叶神社), known for its intricate carvings, and cross the harbor on the famous ferry connecting east and west Uraga. On the other shore, visit Higashi-Kanou Shrine (東叶神社), where a well linked to Katsu Kaishu remains, and take in a sweeping view of the harbor from the hilltop Uraga Park (浦賀公園). In the evening, have an early dinner at the shopping street in Honmachi, and once it gets dark, about 500 fireworks color the night sky over Uraga Port — a day plan in a port town where the history of the late Edo period still lives on.
