2026 Reimatsuri Floating Lantern Fireworks Festival: A Full-Day Course
This full-day course centers on the Reimatsuri Floating Lantern Fireworks Festival, held from 7:30 pm on Monday, August 10, 2026 along the banks of the Tadami River in Yanaizu Town, Fukushima Prefecture (in front of Joryu no Yado Kawachi (瀞流の宿かわち前)). During the day, worship at Enzo-ji Temple (圓蔵寺), counted as one of Japan's Three Great Kokuzo Bosatsu, with its main hall built on a cliff, then visit the Yanaizu Town Saito Kiyoshi Atelier Museum (やないづ町立斎藤清アトリエ館), which opens to the public the residence-and-studio where woodblock print artist Saito Kiyoshi spent his later years. In the afternoon, browse local specialty products at the Yanaizu Town Tourist Products Hall Seiryuen (柳津町観光物産館 清柳苑), and in the evening have an early dinner in the hot spring town lined with shops selling the local specialty, awa manju. As dusk falls, fireworks light up the surface of the Tadami River, making this a summer day plan for Yanaizu, a town where the tradition of floating lanterns still lives on. It's a course that lets you enjoy history, art, and fantastical fireworks to your heart's content.
