2026 Tokyo Koenji Awa Odori Full-Day Immersion Course

Experience the 67th Tokyo Koenji Awa Odori festival—Tokyo's summer finale where 10,000 dancers and approximately 1 million spectators make the entire neighborhood pulse with life—on its opening day (August 29–30, 2026). Spend your day wandering Koenji, a neighborhood known for vintage clothes, records, and its shopping streets. Eat your way through Pure Heart Shopping Street, pray for clear skies at the Weather Shrine (Japan's only weather-dedicated shrine), and tour Zanraku Koenji, the festival's year-round cultural home. After an early dinner under the arcade's cool canopy, at 5 p.m. when the bells and drums sound, head to the performance venues near the station. For the next three hours, troupe after troupe will move through the shopping streets amid cries of 'Yatto Saa!'—a celebration wrapped in the heat of the festival itself.
