2026 Nanba Cooling Summer Festival Full-Day Experience Course
This is a full-day experience course centered on the 'Nanba Cooling Summer Festival' (held on August 15, 2026 (Saturday), 4:30 PM to 9 PM at Saga Prefecture's 'Michi-no-Eki Imari Furusato Village'; postponed to August 16 (Sunday) in case of bad weather). During the day, explore Okawachi-yama, the home of Imari ware (one of Japan's three great ceramics), walking among pottery kilns in the valley and through tunnel-like alleyways. Next, experience the serene atmosphere at Imari Shrine, then visit the Imari Ceramic Merchant House Museum in the city to learn about the history of trade in this pottery port town. Have an early dinner at Imari Station to prepare for the festival, then at 4:30 PM, the roadside station venue comes alive with stage performances and food stalls, filling the open space with summer festival energy. This is a perfect full-day experience where you can enjoy both the tradition of Imari ware and the region's summer festival in one day.
