2026 Kifune Shrine Summer Grand Festival (Amagasaki Danjiri Matsuri): A Full-Day Course
This full-day course centers on the Kifune Shrine Summer Grand Festival (貴布禰神社夏季大祭, also known as the Amagasaki Danjiri Matsuri), held at Kifune Shrine (貴布禰神社) in Amagasaki City, Hyogo Prefecture (2026: two days, August 1, Saturday, and 2, Sunday, with miyairi from 8:00 p.m. on August 1). During the day, enjoy the view from the keep of Amagasaki Castle (尼崎城), rebuilt in 2019, then learn about Amagasaki's history at the adjacent Amagasaki Archives (あまがさきアーカイブズ). Next, visit Amagasaki Ebisu Shrine (尼崎えびす神社), a shrine beloved by the local community, and have an early dinner near Hanshin Amagasaki Station (阪神尼崎駅) to prepare for the festival. At 8:00 p.m., danjiri floats gather around Kifune Shrine, and together with about 100 food stalls lining the shrine grounds and the adjacent park, the night fills with the height of Amagasaki's summer energy. This is a perfect day for families to experience both the history of a castle town and a spirited traditional festival.
