2026 Sumiyoshi Festival (住吉祭) One-Day Highlights Course
A one-day course centered on the Yoimiya Festival (宵宮祭), the eve of the first day of the Sumiyoshi Festival (住吉祭, held July 30-August 1, 2026), the event that closes out Osaka's summer festival season. In the morning, enjoy greenery and water near Sumiyoshi Taisha (住吉大社) at Mandaike Park (万代池公園) and Nagai Park (長居公園), grab a meal at the Tezukayama shopping street (帝塚山商店街), and visit Tezukayama Kofun (帝塚山古墳). In the afternoon, cross the arched bridge (反橋, also called the Taiko-bashi drum bridge) in the shrine grounds to worship at Sumiyoshi Taisha, then witness the festival's opening at the 4 p.m. Yoimiya Festival. Experience with your family this day marking the end of Osaka's summer, over 1,000 years in the making, alongside the oharai purification rite.
