2026 Tsunakoshi Shrine Annual Festival (Onpara Matsuri) One-Day Highlights Course
A one-day course centered on the Yoimiya Festival (宵宮祭), the eve of the first day of the Onpara Matsuri (July 30-August 1, 2026) at Tsunakoshi Shrine (綱越神社), which is associated with Omiwa Shrine (大神神社), the ancient shrine at the heart of Mount Miwa worship. Visit Omiwa Shrine, one of Japan's oldest shrines, then Miwa Ebisu Shrine (三輪惠比須神社), also connected to Omiwa Shrine, before having a meal at Miwa Ebisu-dori Shopping Street (三輪恵比須通り商店街), known as the birthplace of Miwa somen noodles. After visiting Hashihaka Kofun (箸墓古墳), said to possibly be the tomb of Queen Himiko, and the Omiwa-no-Mori Observation Deck (大美和の杜展望台) overlooking the Yamato Plain, experience the tradition of the midsummer purification rite at the Yoimiya Festival starting at 4 p.m.
