2026 Ogatsu Summer Festival: A Full-Day Course
This one-day course centers on the Ogatsu Summer Festival (おがつ夏まつり), held by the sea in Ogatsu, Ishinomaki (August 12-14, 2026, at the Michi-no-Eki Suzuri-jo no Sato Ogatsu roadside station). By day, visit the Ogatsu Rose Factory Garden, where around 130 varieties and 300 rose bushes bloom, and take in the view of Ogatsu Bay from the hilltop Shirogane Shrine. Next, experience traditional inkstone-making at the Ogatsu Suzuri Traditional Industry Hall, then head to the festival venue at the adjacent roadside station. On August 14 the festival runs until 20:00, with a fireworks display starting at 19:30. This course lets a family spend a full day savoring an Ogatsu summer filled with the blessings of the sea, traditional craft, and community spirit.
