2026 Tendo Summer Festival: A Full One-Day Course
This one-day course lets you fully enjoy the first day of the Tendo Summer Festival (August 8-9, 2026, from the Tendo Onsen Shinoda Hospital South Crossing intersection to the west entrance of Wakuwaku Land), which colors the summer in Tendo, the town of shogi that accounts for most of Japan's shogi piece production. The festival runs from 11:00 to 21:00 on Saturday the 8th, and from 16:00 to 21:00 on Sunday the 9th. During the day, learn the craft of piece-making at the Tendo Shogi Piece Museum, take in a view of the hot spring district from Maizuruyama Park, and soothe your travel fatigue at the free footbath of Tendo Onsen Yawaragi. After an early dinner in the hot spring district, enjoy the festival along the venue street from evening onward. Food stalls line the route, making this a festival unique to Tendo where families can enjoy a summer night together.
