2026 Shinjo Festival Full-Day Experience Course
A one-day course centered on the first day of the "Shinjo Festival," held from August 24 (Monday) to 26 (Wednesday), 2026 in Shinjo City, Yamagata Prefecture—also registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. During the day, see the festival floats up close at the Shinjo Festival Float Exhibition Hall, and connect with the town's history at Mogami Park (site of Shinjo Castle) and the Shinjo Local History Center. In the evening, enjoy an early dinner near Shinjo Station, and at 5 PM, the center of Shinjo City comes alive with the float processions. The sight of magnificent ornamental floats passing by one after another will surely captivate both children and adults experiencing them for the first time. As night falls, surrounded by the glow of lanterns, your family will fully experience the vibrant summer spirit of Shinjo.
