2026 Suenari Festival: A Full One-Day Course
This full-day course is centered on the first day of the Suenari Festival (August 1, 2026, at Tomiyoshi Takehaya Shrine / Yatsurugi Shrine in Kanie Town, Ama District), a festival registered as a nationally designated Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property. During the day, visit Tsushima Shrine, also known for the Tsushima Tenno Festival, one of Japan's three great festivals, learn about the town's origins at the Kanie Town Museum of History and Folklore, and stroll along the Kanie River, which still carries traces of its water town past. In the evening, shop and have dinner at Aeon Mall Nagoya Chaya, and at 5:00 p.m. head to the venue at Tomiyoshi Takehaya Shrine / Yatsurugi Shrine. Enjoy a mystical summer festival unique to this water town with your family, as lantern-decorated dashi boats move along the night river. This course lets you fully experience, in a single day, the history of a region nurtured by the Kiso Three Rivers and the excitement of its festival.
