2026 Otawara Yoichi Festival Full-Day Course
This course centers on the first day of the “Otawara Yoichi Festival” (大田原与一まつり), held August 7-8, 2026 from 3pm to 9pm, around Chuo Tamokuteki Park (中央多目的公園) in Otawara City, a place associated with Nasu Yoichi (那須与一), the master archer famous from a celebrated scene in “The Tale of the Heike” (『平家物語』). Since the festival runs for a single day starting in the afternoon, the way to enjoy this course is to visit the town's highlights first, in the morning. Learn the archer's story at the Nasu Yoichi Denshokan (那須与一伝承館), then have an early bite at the adjoining roadside station. Stroll around Ryujo Park (龍城公園), the site of the former Otawara Castle (大田原城), and pay a visit to a local shrine — then from 3pm, the area around Chuo Tamokuteki Park becomes the festival's stage. With food trucks lining the venue, it's a summer festival day that's uniquely Otawara.
