2026 Mitarashi Festival Full-Day Experience Course
A one-day course centered on the Mitarashi Festival held at Karasaki Shrine (Hiyoshi Taisha) in Otsu City (scheduled for July 28, 2026). On the western shore of Lake Biwa at the foot of Mount Hiei, explore Otsu's attractions including Omni Shrine (connected to the Hyakunin Isshu poetry anthology), Hiyoshi Taisha (the head shrine of approximately 3,800 nationwide shrines), and the historically rich townscape of Sakamoto with its beautiful stone walls. In the evening, rest at a waterfront complex along Lake Biwa before the main event of the Mitarashi Festival begins. Savor this traditionally significant Omi summer ritual, deeply connected to water and history, with your family.
