2026 Uto Jizo Festival: A Full One-Day Course
A one-day course exploring Uto City, a castle town facing the Ariake Sea. During the day, visit Uto Castle Ruins (宇土城跡) and Nishioka Shrine (西岡神宮) to experience the castle town's history, then cool off with the spring water at Todoroki Spring (轟水源), one of Japan's Top 100 Famous Waters. In the evening, enjoy the sunset at Sumiyoshi Nature Park (住吉自然公園), overlooking the Ariake Sea, before finishing in central Uto. When the “Uto Jizo Festival” is held, Jizo statues individually decorated along the shopping street and the glow of lanterns color the town. Since the 2026 festival has been announced as postponed due to the impact of the Kumamoto earthquake and its schedule is undecided, please check the latest information — a day for the whole family to enjoy a stroll unique to Uto.
