
2026 Obama Hojo Festival: A Full One-Day Course
A one-day course to enjoy the first day of the Obama Hojo Festival (September 19-20, 2026, around Hachiman Shrine, Obama City, Fukui Prefecture), the leading autumn festival of the Wakasa region. During the day, walk through the townscape of Obama Nishigumi, an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings, experience history at the ruins of Obama Castle and Jingu-ji Temple, and enjoy seafood at Wakasa Fisherman's Wharf. In the evening, have an early dinner in the town center, then head to Hachiman Shrine at 5:00 PM. Experience the excitement of the festival that colors Wakasa's autumn, with decorated floats parading through the streets, together with your family.
