2026 Kiryu Yagibushi Festival: A Full-Day Course
The Kiryu Yagibushi Festival is held every year in Kiryu City, a textile town known as Nishijin in the West, Kiryu in the East. In 2026, it takes place over three days, from Friday, August 7 to Sunday, August 9, centered on Honmachi-dori. This course is a full-day plan centered on the opening day, August 7. During the day, pay a visit to Kiryu Tenmangu Shrine, standing at the northern end of Honmachi-dori, then head to the Kiryu Textile Memorial Hall, which tells the history of Kiryu, a town of weaving. Next, tour the historic building complex at Yurin-kan, a renovated former sake and soy sauce brewery, then spend time with children at the small zoo in Kiryugaoka Park. In the evening, have an early dinner around Honmachi-dori, and as the sun begins to set, head to the heart of the festival. A night filled with the excitement of dancers moving to the lively Yagibushi tunes and taiko drums awaits, the best night of summer in Kiryu.
