2026 Mito Komon Festival Main Festival Full-Day Course
The "Mito Komon Festival Main Festival" takes place along Route 50 from Mito Station North to Daikusumi Intersection, from 11 AM to 9 PM on August 1-2, 2026. This course features August 1 as the starring day in a full-day immersion plan. Because floats and portable shrines parade from early morning, enjoy a morning stroll through Kairaku-en, one of Japan's three premier gardens, then visit nearby Lake Senba to see the Mito Komon, Sukesuke, and Kakusuke statues. Learn city history at Kodo-kan, the former samurai academy, then pray at Mito Toshogu Shrine for the festival's success. At 11 AM, floats and shrines emerge onto Route 50 for the main festival. As evening falls and lanterns light, the energy peaks—a full day from morning historical exploration to night's vibrant celebration that captures the essence of Mito's summer.
