2026 Takaoka-ryu Tsunabi (Rope Fireworks): A Full-Day Course
Set at Takaoka Atago Shrine in Tsukubamirai City, the Takaoka-ryu Tsunabi is held from 19:00 on Sunday, August 23, 2026. It is a rare folk performing art passed down from the Edo period, in which fireworks run along ropes strung across the shrine grounds. This course is a full-day plan centered on this one special day. During the daytime, enjoy the greenery and flowers at Kirakuyama Fureai-no-Oka, encounter unique charms at Itabashi Fudoson, and take in the wide-open scenery along the river at Kokai River Fureai Park. In the evening, have an early dinner at Michi-no-Eki Joso, and at 19:00 the Tsunabi finally begins within the grounds of Takaoka Atago Shrine. It's a special day for the whole family to look up together at this fantastical fire performance floating in the night sky.
