2026 Tsukuyomi Shrine Rokugatsudon (June Lantern Festival) Full Day Course
A full day course to enjoy "Tsukuyomi Shrine Rokugatsudon" (Lunar Lantern Festival) (July 30, 2026, Sakurajima Yokoyama-cho, Kagoshima City) with glowing lanterns at the base of the active volcano Sakurajima. In the afternoon, first take a rest at Lava Nagisa Park, known for Japan's longest foot bath, then view the imposing landscape of Sakurajima up close from Yunonohira Observatory. After learning about volcanic mechanisms at Sakurajima Visitor Center, enjoy an early dinner around the harbor. After 5 p.m., as the sun sets, lanterns begin to glow in the grounds of Tsukuyomi Shrine, marking the start of a special evening at the base of an active volcano.
