2026 Gion Festival Full-Day Immersion Course
A full-day course to fully enjoy the Gion Festival held on August 1, 2026, in the Minato district of Ichiki Kushikino City (いちき串木野市), a port town with ties to the Satsuma Clan British Students. First, visit the memorial hall that tells the story of young people who secretly sailed to Britain during the late Edo period, and savor the exotic atmosphere in the charming Kangatsu Garden (冠嶽園) with Chinese-style pavilions. After enjoying the sea at Wakahama Beach (若浜海水浴場), have an early dinner in front of Kushikino Station (串木野駅). At 5 PM, as festival drums echo through the Minato district, the historic port town's summer festival opens its curtains.
