2026 Atago Shrine Annual Festival: Noda Matsuri, A Full-Day Course
The Atago Shrine Annual Festival, known as Noda Matsuri, is held from August 21 to 23, 2026, at the Village Plaza (Non-chan Plaza) (村民広場(のんちゃん広場)) and other spots in the center of Noda Village, Kunohe District, Iwate Prefecture. This one-day course centers on the first day (August 21, 2026) of this festival, the busiest of the year for this small village embraced by the Sanriku sea. During the day, enjoy shopping at Michi-no-Eki Noda (道の駅のだ), feel the sea breeze at Tofugaura Coast (十府ヶ浦海岸) with its beautiful pine groves, and experience the culture of salt-making at the Noda Salt Experience Center (のだ塩ふれあい体験館). After visiting Rikuchu-Noda Station (陸中野田駅) on the Sanriku Railway, festival excitement begins to spread through the village center from around 17:00. At night, the Village Plaza glows with mikoshi and food-stall lanterns — a day unique to Noda Village, where the sea and the festival become one.
