2026 Isaku Taiko Dance - Full Day Experience

This is a one-day course to fully enjoy the first day of 'Isaku Taiko Dance' (August 28-29, 2026, held at Nanpo Shrine and throughout the Fukiage area of Hiki City), a traditional folk art passed down in the Fukiage area of Hiki City. In the daytime, take a historical tour visiting sites connected to the Isaku Taiko Dance. Pay your respects at Tokushige Shrine, which enshrines Shimazu Tadayoshi, and explore the history of the castle town at Isaku Castle ruins. Toward evening, enjoy the seaside views at Fukiage Beach Sunset Bridge, then stop at Eguchi Hourai-kan roadside station for an early dinner and souvenir shopping. At 5 PM, the Fukiage area, centered around Nanpo Shrine, becomes the stage for the dance, as dancers wearing large taiko drums dedicate their vigorous performances. Until the 8:30 PM conclusion, it's a day where your family can experience the energy of this community-rooted traditional folk art.
