2026 Kasagi Campground (Kizu River) Full-Day Course
This full-day course centers on Kasagi Campground (笠置キャンプ場), located on the riverbed of the Kizu River downstream of Kasagi Ohashi Bridge in Kasagi Town, Soraku District, Kyoto Prefecture. Open year-round with no reservation required, it's a free campsite you can head to on a whim for river play. In the morning, start at Kasagi-dera Temple (笠置寺), which stands on Mt. Kasagi, and stroll its grounds, known for Buddhist images carved into huge boulders and for ascetic training experiences, to touch a bit of Kyoto's history. Next, have lunch at the roadside station Ocha no Kyoto Minami-Yamashiro-mura (道の駅 お茶の京都 みなみやましろ村) in neighboring Minami-Yamashiro Village while browsing the local specialty products. As the afternoon sun warms up, move on to the riverbed of the Kizu River and enjoy plenty of river play, splashing about in the clear stream. Surrounded by mountains with plenty of shade along the riverbank, it stays comfortable to spend time here even in summer. A recommended day for families who want to relax and enjoy nature to the fullest.
