2026 Mitake Valley (御岳渓谷) Full-Day Course
A one-day course centred on Mitake Valley (御岳渓谷), which spreads along both banks of the Tama River (多摩川) from Mitakehon-cho to Sawai in Ome City. The walking path is open all year, and water play is mainly enjoyed in summer. In the morning, first ride the Mitakesan Cable Car (御岳山ケーブルカー) for an aerial stroll up the mountain, then touch the world of Japanese painting at the Gyokudo Art Museum (玉堂美術館) along the valley. For lunch, stop at the dining area run by a sake brewery at Sawanoi-en (澤乃井園) and eat while looking out over the Tama River. Once everyone is fed, move to the valley, where river play in Mitake Valley is the afternoon's climax. In the clear, shallow stream you can step across stones and splash about, savouring river play unique to a valley. The water is cold, so playing plenty during the sunny hours is recommended. Points of interest are dotted along the walking path, so you can also enjoy a stroll before or after water play. It is a perfect day for families wanting to spend time freely in a valley rich in nature.
