2026 Umi Hoozuki Wanpaku Iso (海ほおずき わんぱく磯) Full-Day Course
A one-day course spent in Hamajima, at the mouth of Ago Bay, built around Umi Hoozuki Wanpaku Iso at the Shima City Hamajima Rocky Shore Experience Facility Umi Hoozuki (志摩市浜島磯体験施設 海ほおずき). Wanpaku Iso is an artificial shallow rocky shore with tide pools; official information says it opens from mid-April to the end of October, admits visitors 9:30-16:00, and closes on Tuesdays (open daily during the summer holiday period). There are two areas, one 40 cm deep and one 60 cm deep, so you can choose to suit your children's ages and confidence, which is reassuring. The design is barrier-free and comes with changing rooms and warm showers, so changing after playing in the sea is no trouble. No reservation is needed, so you can decide after seeing the day's weather, which families will appreciate. Admission to the Wanpaku Iso area is 1,000 yen for elementary school age and above, 500 yen for preschoolers aged 3 and over, and free for children aged 2 and under. Unlike a natural rocky shore, the footing has been prepared, making it just the right place for a first go at rock-pool play. In the morning, walk the sandy beach at Hamajima and enjoy the views and a meal at Shima Mediterranean Village with its rows of white buildings, then lose yourself in creature hunting on the rocks in the afternoon. The exact starting date for 2026 has not been announced, so check the official information before you set out.
