2026 Kyoto Prefectural Tamba Nature Sports Park: Children's Plaza Jabu-Jabu Pond - A Full One-Day Course
In the large park spread through the mountains of Kyotamba Town, Funai District, there is a free water play spot: the Children's Plaza Jabu-Jabu Pond at Kyoto Prefectural Tamba Nature Sports Park. The 2026 opening period has not been announced; in most years it opens during the summer holidays. The official information states that the Jabu-Jabu Pond is filled with water only for events and similar occasions, so it is safest to check the filling schedule before you go. The park is open 9:00-17:00 and closed from 12/29 to 1/3. The venue is Kyoto Prefectural Tamba Nature Sports Park in Kyotamba Town, Funai District, and admission is free (only the family pool costs extra). The Jabu-Jabu Pond sits inside the Children's Plaza, a lawn of fully 30,000 m², so when you tire of the water you can move on to the 45 m giant slide, the underground maze or the combination play structure. Having water and play equipment gathered together within such a wide expanse of grass is a luxury only a large mountain park can offer. In the morning, listen to the sound of mountain water at the tall Koto Falls, then have lunch at the roadside station while looking over Kyotamba's produce. In the afternoon, shuttle between the Children's Plaza play equipment and the Jabu-Jabu Pond - a day that takes in the nature of Tamba in full.
