2026 Kameoka Sports Park: The Lawn Plaza Fountain - A Full One-Day Course
In the sports park spread across the farmland of Kameoka City there is a water play spot you can enjoy for free: the Lawn Plaza Fountain at Kameoka Sports Park. The 2026 opening period has not been announced; in most years the summer holidays are the time to play. In summer the fountain runs at set intervals. The venue is Kameoka Sports Park in Kameoka City, and use of the park and the lawn plaza is free (only the leisure pool Kame Pu costs extra). The fountain is on the lawn plaza beside the leisure pool, and because the water shoots up from the ground, children love that they can run about to their heart's content without waiting in line. The same lawn plaza also has wooden athletic play equipment, a zip line, a sandpit and a long slide, so when they tire of the water they can switch to the play equipment and fill a whole day. The surroundings are quiet, ringed by fields and mountains, with an openness that city parks do not have. In the morning, pay a visit to Anaoji Temple (穴太寺), known as a temple of the Saigoku Kannon Pilgrimage, and walk through countryside scenery typical of Tamba. At noon spread out your bento on the lawn plaza, and in the afternoon shuttle between the play equipment and the fountain. Getting splashed while looking out at the mountains of Tamba is a way of spending summer that only Kameoka can offer.
