2026 Hyogo Prefectural Arimafuji Park Stream: A Full Day to Enjoy
The stream at Hyogo Prefectural Arimafuji Park (兵庫県立有馬富士公園) in Sanda City, in the Rock Garden near the Park Center, is a very shallow summer-only brook created by running water down the garden steps. In 2026 the water flows from Saturday, July 18 to Thursday, August 27, from 10:00 to 16:00. It is not a pool for swimming but a quiet kind of water play befitting a rural woodland park: dipping your feet in the water that tumbles down the stone steps, crouching down and letting your hands trail in it. Because there is almost no depth, even small children unused to water and toddlers who have only just started walking can go in with confidence, which is its greatest appeal. Admission is free. It is cancelled in bad weather, and the start date may shift because of heavy rain, so check the park's notices before you set out. In the morning, stop at Kazanin Bodaiji Temple (花山院菩提寺), known as a special extra temple of the Saigoku Thirty-three Kannon Pilgrimage (西国三十三所), and enjoy the view from the heights over Sanda's rural hills and Mount Arimafuji. Then explore Hyogo's nature and the history of the earth at the Museum of Nature and Human Activities, Hyogo, and move to Arimafuji Park for a packed lunch. After playing with the woodland creatures at the Sanda City Arimafuji Nature Learning Center, spend the afternoon in the water at the stream in Hyogo Prefectural Arimafuji Park.
