2026 Himawari-no-oka Park (ひまわりの丘公園) Playable Fountain Full-Day Course
Himawari-no-oka Park's Playable Fountain (ひまわりの丘公園 遊べる噴水), in Ono City, is a free water-play facility featuring fountains and a mist system. In 2026 it runs from Wednesday, April 29 through Wednesday, September 30, from 10:00 to 16:30. The days it operates depend on the time of year: every day from April 29 to May 6 and from Saturday, July 18 to Monday, August 31; weekends and holidays only from Saturday, July 4 to Sunday, July 12 and from Saturday, September 5 to Wednesday, September 30. It runs on a cycle of 10 minutes on, 5 minutes off, which naturally builds in a rhythm of rest and hydration breaks while the water is paused. It may be suspended in bad weather, so check the forecast and operating status before you set out. Admission is free, and since the park also has what's said to be one of the largest playground areas in Kansai, you can switch between play styles for a long visit, playground equipment when you've had enough of the water, and back to the water when you've cooled down enough. In the morning, experience the light streaming into the National Treasure Jodo-do Hall (浄土堂) at Jodo-ji Temple (浄土寺), where the Amida Triad carved by Kaikei stands. For lunch, buy local ingredients at Sun Patio Ono (サンパティオおの), the farmers' market inside the park, then in the afternoon get active on the large playground equipment before spending plenty of time playing in the water at Himawari-no-oka Park's Playable Fountain.
