2026 Sarubia Park Splash Pond (さるびあ公園 じゃぶじゃぶ池) Full-Day Course
The Sarubia Park Splash Pond (さるびあ公園 じゃぶじゃぶ池) at Sarubia Park (さるびあ公園, the landscaped grounds of the Fukusaki Water Treatment Center) in Fukusaki Town, Kanzaki District, is a free water play area with a splash pond and a babbling stream fed by well water. The official guidance says it opens in early July each year and runs until around late September, with hours from 8:30 to 17:00. The confirmed 2026 schedule has not been announced yet, so check the town's information for the opening status before you go. Because it uses well water, the water is cold, and the greatest appeal of this pond is the chilly feel you can enjoy even in midsummer. The grounds also have an air dome, a large combination play structure and a lawn plaza, so when the children tire of the water they can switch to the play equipment, and when they get chilled they can warm up on the lawn, keeping the day varied. The site is unstaffed, so children aged 6 and under must always be accompanied by a guardian. In the morning, visit Tsujikawayama Park (辻川山公園), famous for its yokai. The mechanism that brings the kappa Gajiro (ガジロウ) up out of the pond, and the yokai benches sitting along the street, are specialties found only in Fukusaki Town. Next, touch on the starting point of Japanese folklore studies at the Yanagita Kunio / Matsuoka Family Memorial Hall (柳田國男 / 松岡家記念館), and have lunch at Mochimugi no Yakata (もちむぎのやかた), which uses the town's famous mochi barley. In the afternoon, spend the day soaking in the cold well water of the Sarubia Park Splash Pond (さるびあ公園 じゃぶじゃぶ池).
