2026 Yamahana Park Water Play Area: A Full Day Course

Yamahana Park sits in the heart of the Yamahana district where streetcars run, and it is the everyday park where local children spend their summers. The shallow water play area inside, the Yamahana Park Water Play Area, is open from Monday, June 29 to Sunday, August 30, 2026, from 10:00 to 16:00, and admission is free. There are no elaborate facilities, but that is exactly why even small children can safely dip their feet in, which is the charm of an in-town water play area. For this day we built the plan around riding the Sapporo streetcar for a loop of the city before heading to the water. In the morning, visit the Sapporo City Archive Museum at the western end of Odori Park to see the stone building of the former Court of Appeals and its exhibits. At lunchtime, move to Tanukikoji Shopping Street and choose a restaurant that catches your eye under the arcade. In the afternoon, visit Hokkaido Jingu Tongu Shrine and then return to Yamahana Park. All the travel is covered by the streetcar, the subway and a little walking, so you can put the day together without a car, which is one of this city's conveniences. It is a very Sapporo-like course that lets you enjoy both a city walk and water play in a single day.
