2026 Ebetsubuto Park Water Play Area: A Full Day Course
A free one day course built around the Ebetsubuto Park Water Play Area in Ebetsu City. The 2026 opening period has not been announced yet, but in most years the water is filled to match the summer holiday season. Along with the shallow water play area, the park has an open free space and a basketball hoop, so elementary school children who want to keep moving after the water are satisfied too, and that is what sets this park apart. In the morning, visit the Ebetsu River Disaster Prevention Station, where models and videos explain clearly how this area, where the Ishikari River and the Chitose River merge, has faced repeated floods. At midday, move to EBRI, a complex housed in a former brick factory, and enjoy a meal and a break surrounded by red brick. In the afternoon it is finally time for the Ebetsubuto Park Water Play Area, where you can send up spray until evening. Once you know how this town grew up beside the river, the same water looks a little different when you play in it. Each leg of the trip takes around ten minutes by car, so the day comes together at an easy pace. Opening conditions change from year to year, so checking the Ebetsu City information before you set out is reassuring.
