2026 Nopporo Suehirocho Park Water Play Area: A Full Day Course
A free one day course built around the Nopporo Suehirocho Park Water Play Area in Ebetsu City. The 2026 opening period has not been announced yet, but in most years the water is filled to match the summer holiday season. The water is shallow, so even a child who has only just started walking can safely dip their feet in and play. In the morning, visit the Hokkaido Museum, which stands inside Nopporo Forest Park. It is one of the largest general museums in Hokkaido, letting you take in the making of the region as a single flow, from mammoth fossils through Ainu culture to pioneering and modernization. At midday, walk over to the Historical Village of Hokkaido close by. In this vast open-air museum, where buildings from the Meiji era to the early Showa era have been relocated and restored, you can feel life in the old days with your whole body as you walk through the village, and you can also eat here. Then, later in the afternoon, on to the Nopporo Suehirocho Park Water Play Area. After all that walking through history, playing in the water is a reward that feels wonderful on tired feet. Every leg of the trip takes less than ten minutes by car, so you can cover this forested area on the border of Ebetsu and Sapporo without strain. Opening conditions change from year to year, so checking the Ebetsu City information before you set out is reassuring.
